Help us care for Habitat's resident herd of Nigerian Dwarf Goats!
We are looking for volunteers available Mondays from 1-2pm and/or Tuesdays between 9am-11am (for a one-hour shift). We welcome individuals or small groups of volunteers who can commit to a weekly shift.
The goats are used as living lawn mowers, helping maintain the meadows as open spaces and removing invasive species through their browsing.
Responsibilities
Volunteers are expected to:
Clean up after the goats
Ensure the goats have food, water, and shelter
Interact with and educate the general public who are viewing the goats
Assist staff with herding (if needed)
Accompany goats in the meadow during the summer (if needed), as goats must be monitored the entire time in that setting.
Requirements
Successfully pass a CORI/SORI background check
Volunteers under the age of 14 must be accompanied with an adult
Commit a minimum of 6 months to the volunteer position
