Education volunteers are trained to assist staff with school and visitor programs, family walks, field trips, family programs and events at Joppa Flats Education Center. Education Volunteers assist our team in many ways, from program preparation to photography, to sharing information about our local habitats such as the coast and Merrimack River plus bird ecology and more.
The best way to get acquainted with the role of an Education Volunteer is to register for our Introduction to Education Volunteering classes in September, January, and April. Our fall and spring training themes include salt marsh ecology, rocky shore tide pools and bird banding science. Our winter training themes include raptors, winter wildlife and tracking and coastal erosion and beach grass planting.
