Many hands make work light! Join Drumlin Farm staff for a habitat restoration session and cut back and maintain shrub row along a section of our agricultural fields. Shrubs are an important interface between woodland and fields and act as nesting locations while providing cover and food for birds. Tasks will include cutting back overgrowth and pulling invasive plants.
This project is outdoors and requires the use of hand tools, bending, and walking on uneven surfaces. This task is suitable for adults and teens who are 16 and older.
Before getting to work, start the day with a hot cup of coffee and a light breakfast as you take in the beauty of nature, get to know other volunteers, and learn about the importance of the work that you will be doing.
After your work for the morning is done, enjoy free admission to the sanctuary for the remainder of the day to walk the trails and visit the farmyard. The lambs and kids will have been born, and they are very cute!
