Herbert "Woody" Woodward was a lifelong conservationist whose generosity allowed for the Ottmar home to be renovated into the Oak Knoll Nature Center and for additional land to be protected around Lake Talaquega. Woody wanted to give back to a community he spent the last 13 years of his life as a part of.
Thanks to Woody's forward thinking of "think globally, act locally" Oak Knoll is here for all to enjoy. As a community, let's help continue this trend of preserving and maintaining Oak Knoll Wildlife Sanctuary's beauty.
Join us for a few hours on the last Saturday of every month to perform and complete tasks such as light trail work, trash cleanup and removal, garden maintenance, and other various tasks around Oak Knoll Wildlife Sanctuary. After our work is complete, we welcome all inside our Nature Center to explore and discover all that Oak Knoll has to offer its community as well as a visit with our animal ambassadors.
