Water chestnut is an invasive plant that wreaks havoc on native plant and animal life, chokes out waterways, and interferes with recreation. Enjoy a beautiful morning on the water pulling water chestnut and helping to preserve this essential habitat.
Adults only, some canoeing experience required. Canoes, paddles, and PFDs provided, though you are welcome to bring your own.
NOTE CHANGE OF LOCATION: We are now meeting at the parking area on Old Springfield Rd in the Arcadia Meadows. There are row of large boulders marking the parking area. On Google maps: https://bit.ly/waterchestnutparking
From Arcadia visitor center and points south: Follow Old Springfield Rd north to the single-lane bridge. If the bridge is still closed, park on the south side of the bridge and walk across. Continue 400 ft to the meet up location on your right.
From Northampton and points north: Follow South St (Rt 10) to Olive St. Olive St merges into Old Springfield Rd. Follow Old Springfield Rd south for 1.2 miles. The parking are will be on your left before you get to the bridge.
