Assist our staff with the care of a variety of birds, mammals, amphibians, and reptiles. These animals are injured and unable to live on their own. At Drumlin Farm they act as Animal Ambassadors, providing educational programs for families and children.
Volunteers assist our staff by cleaning enclosures, putting out new food and water, preparing diets, and light housekeeping tasks such as sweeping and popping in a load of laundry. The tasks take place both inside and outdoors -rain or shine. This opportunity is a physical one and requires walking on uneven surfaces, bending, lifting, reaching, and working close to the ground.
This position is a good fit for those who appreciate animals, want to learn more about them, would enjoy being around other like-minded people, and want to assist with the daily animal needs / tasks. This role requires one Sunday morning per week for a minimum of six months. We hope you will stay longer as many of our volunteers have been with us for years.
This position is "hands-off" as only trained staff handle the animals. An interview, training, and a background check are required.
