Spend your morning helping with our annual salt marsh cleanup as part of Mass Audubon’s Statewide Volunteer Day. This is the second of two salt marsh clean-ups happening at Joppa Flats on Statewide Volunteer Day. We will be "spring cleaning" the salt marsh behind the Joppa Flats Education Center, and participants assist with the sorting of collected materials and will write their totals on data sheets provided. Live animals from the salt marsh including minnows, green crabs and horseshoe crabs will be on site. All participants should dress for the weather, wear waterproof footwear and bring a rake and work/garden gloves and trash grabbing tongs if you have them. Bring your own water bottle to stay hydrated; we’ll have light snacks ready to keep you energized. This project is family-friendly – we'll have options for volunteers of all ages. Anyone younger than 18 will need to volunteer alongside a parent/guardian. Education Volunteers help staff and field teachers present programs to schools, groups, and families throughout the school year in a wide variety of environments.
