Training for the Tidmarsh Herring Count project. Volunteers only need to attend 1 in person training.
During these training opportunities, we will walk you out to two of Tidmarsh’s counting locations and walk you through the counting procedures. We will be meeting in the Tidmarsh parking lot located at 60 Beaver Dam Road before heading over to the counting locations. Dress for cool weather and wear good shoes for muddy trail walking. From the parking lot to the first counting location is about ~0.15 miles, from the first counting location to the second counting location is about ~0.30 miles, and from the second counting location back to the parking lot is about ~0.40 miles. The whole walk will be about a mile. We will go over the count procedure – including taking temperatures, recording data, and finishing up each count.
This training will only cover Bridges 1 and 2. If you are interested in counting at Bridge 3 (Bartlett Rd), please email sevols@massaudubon.org separately as there are additional instructions for this bridge.
